Our Story…
“After a magical family vacation in Tuscany, where we fell in love with the taste of genuine extra virgin olive oil, we realized how difficult it is to get anything like it in Canada. So we decided to start a business and import it for ourselves and our like minded clients”
Over the last ten years, our family has wholeheartedly adopted a healthier lifestyle.
We’ve come to appreciate the numerous benefits of olive oil among other things, but have also become aware that the products we were buying at the local supermarkets may not actually be genuine extra virgin olive oil, even though the labels claimed otherwise.
How fresh is the oil? How was it processed, is “cold pressed” good enough? How was it stored and transported to Canada? Where does it come from really? Many labels say “made with olives from various countries”…., not to mention the crazy stories of counterfeited oil.
Then one memorable summer, we embarked on a trip to Italy and rented a charming villa tucked away in the scenic Tuscan countryside.
This estate in the heart of Tuscany is more than just a place. It’s a story — a living legacy. When we arrived, we were welcomed not only by the breathtaking landscape but by a family that has nurtured this land for generations.
At the heart of the villa is la Signora Maria, the family’s matriarch. Every day, she’s out among the olive trees, caring for each one as if it were a member of the family. With her wisdom, patience, and passion, she embodies the essence of Tuscan tradition.
Her daughter, Signora Marta, carries that legacy forward with pride, caring for the estate with the help her two daughters and close family friends.
Together, they shared with us unforgettable Tuscan evenings, cooking dinners filled with the flavors of this land—ripe tomatoes, fresh herbs, and, of course, their exceptional olive oil.
Each meal was a celebration, accompanied by stories of their life here – the harvests, the festivals, the long-standing traditions. It was more than just olive oil; it was a piece of history, bottled and ready to share with the world.
So, inspired and amazed, we decided to create Elixir Vitae, a business whose mission is to bring to the Canadian market true, genuine high quality olive oil.
